Has Anna Wintour Given Beyoncé Complete Control Of Her Last September Issue?
RING THE ALARM!! This is NOT a drill. You read that right, Beyoncé will reportedly be given complete control over the upcoming September 2018 issue of Vogue Magazine. It's said that she has hired a black photographer to shoot the cover for the first time in the magazine's 126-year history (yes, 126 years!). This will also be the first time Vogue has relinquished all creative and editorial control to the subject, but can you blame them? I mean, it's Beyoncé!
Reports say Beyoncé has chosen 23-year old Tyler Mitchell who has worked with Marc Jacobs, Converse, and i-D to be her photographer. Beyoncé’s last September issue cover was in 2015 was shot by Mario Testino and she didn't even give an interview.
“The reason a 23-year-old Black photographer is photographing Beyoncé for the cover of Vogue is because Beyoncé used her power and influence to get him that assignment,” a source told The Huffington Post. Further confirming that Beyoncé is the GOAT.
According to reports by the Huffington Post,
"The publication is contractually obligated to give Beyoncé full control over the cover, the photos of her inside the magazine and the captions, which she has written herself and are in long-form, according to two sources who are familiar with the agreement between Vogue and Beyoncé but aren’t authorized to speak to the press."
Sources say that the cover is also likely to be Wintour’s last September issue, despite the fact that Condé Nast has repeatedly said the editor is not leaving the magazine. If we had to put our money on it, we're wiling to bet that this September issue is going to be FOR THE CULTURE...and we're here for it!
