Activated Charcoal Is All The Rage These Days: Here's Why!

Health trends are just about as every evolving as the iPhone.

Growing up, we always knew of charcoal pills to be the thing that could instantaneously soak up toxins and chemicals in your gut for healthy digestion, but as we've continued looking through beauty aisles we started to notice the word "charcoal" on labels for every other face mask, teeth whitener and soap.

So what's the deal with this magic ingredient?

The reason people are all over this stuff is because charcoal draws out impurities and erases dirt and oil on your body. Thus making this the perfect ingredient for hair, skin and teeth. You can even find charcoal in cold pressed juices!

Whether you have oily skin or large pores, this stuff does a great job of soaking up the unwanted excess gunk in your skin and minimizing pores to give you a clearer surface. But because it's so powerful, you'll want to tread lightly. Too much of anything is bad for you - so use it with caution based on what your skin can handle.

If you're looking to detoxify your scalp, charcoal will also give your hair the cleanse its been searching for. Charcoal hair products can help to treat itchy and oily scalps with dandruff and rid you of the residues that other shampoos sometimes may even leave behind! The benefit of this? A deep cleanse and a better chance of gaining the volume you've been searching for!

Your teeth? Even Champagne Papi swears by it.

You guessed it! Activated charcoal toothpaste or powder will whiten your teeth overtime in a less damaging way than teeth strips (that may cause sensitivity). Mix this with oil pulling and you're golden! Or should we say pearly? *BLING* Be sure to use a separate tooth brush and be careful, this stuff in particular can get messy!

In conculusion, we'd recommend giving charcoal anything a shot! We've listed out a few of our favorites:
